      This volume of lectures on aesthetics, given by Adorno in the winter semester of , formed the foundation for his laterAesthetic Theory, widely regarded as one of his greatest works. The lectures cover a wide range of topics, from an intense analysis of the work of Georg Lukcs to a sustained reflection on the theory of aesthetic experience, from an examination of works by Plato, Kant. Book 7 and 8 discuss the musical and physical education of the citizens. Book 8 concludes with a discussion of sexuality and economics. Book 9 introduces criminal law and analyzes what factors should be taken into account when determining a punishment. Book 10 examines laws concerning impiety and presents an account of theology.
